If you want to watch Jessica Jones to support what it's trying to achieve, but don't want to trigger yourself, I have an alternative.

Don't watch season 2 of Daredevil. If you don't watch JJ but do watch DD it will give the impression that male superheroes are more marketable. So here's what I'm doing. I'm not watching season 2. Maybe I'll bootleg it. but I won't be promoting the show about white males in an angst-off. If you all do the same, JJ's ratings will stay high, DD will drop, and marvel may get the idea that the world is ready for more woman friendly content.

Nah, going to watch DD because it is an awesome show and I want to support it. I've watched the second season twice so far!

I watched about 7 episodes of Jessica Jones but I found that is meandered too much. They needed to cut out some stuff from that show.

Dialogues are too long, sometimes on the brink of boring.

Just fuck off.

Let me ask you this: Do you not think we as women need to put in much more effort than guys to get shows made for us? What do you propose we do? Simply watching these shows will never be enough for the men who run these companies.

If the show is good, people will watch it. If it is lacking, people won't. I don't want to support a shitty show or movie because the lead has a vagina.

You could try not taking TV so seriously and helping a real life woman for a change.

Well, tbh I think Daredevil is the superior show by far. I watch Jessica Jones because I love superhero stuff, it's Marvel, and she's a cool character, and I'll probably watch everything related to that universe for years to come..

So "for us" is tricky - I think Daredevil is more "for me" than Jessica Jones, in terms of that it caters to a lot of tings I want to see in a show.

Yeah, I acknowledge it was is important show in terms of female and minority characters - but that alone will nor make me watch/support a show - or "for me" for that matter (else I'd be watching oitnb or whatever). I also think it's total utter shite the tell rape victims (or any abuse victims who get triggered by it) to suck it up and watch(or even just play it) out of principle because just NO.

I'm the opposite. Jessica Jones is the better to me. I like Daredevil okay, but I feel like Jessica Jones is a nearly perfect show.

That being said, I agree with you that I hate the mentality that people should watch things just for representation even if they don't enjoy it. And telling victims they have to watch anything is shitty.

Guess I shouldn't watch Daredevil for a fourth time? Too late! I already started.

Different idea. Pick times where you're going to be busy around the house and don't need to watch. Set Netflix to play JJ, put it on mute, be sure you're not in position to watch the show and risk yourself directly - hell, turn the TV screen off and check it periodically.

Let Netflix get the hits for content that deserves it, don't expose yourself directly.

I've actually been thinking of doing this. (Maybe while I'm getting ready to go to work in the morning?)

Daredevil s2 is not woman-friendly content, I'll give you that.

I'm a little iffy on Elektra (which is fundamentally Frank Miller's fault), but Karen does alright and has a good amount of inner strength despite being near-damsel'd every five fucking minutes. Claire brought it, though.

Basically I sort of agree with you but it could also have been worse.

I'm hoping Misty Knight is good in Luke Cage.

People can choose to watch or not to watch something just because they like it or not.
There's no need to make everything into a cause and no one should be guilt tripped into watching/not watching anything.

TV watching doesn't have to be a political stratagem.

How else are these people going to convince themselves they're doing something meaningful with their lives?

I strongly prefer JJ to DD, but OP, this strategy of yours is just silly and try-hard.

People are going to watch what appeals to them because it appeals to them. Asking people to skew what they watch for political purposes is...weird and unrealistic. If you want to encourage people to watch and appreciate JJ, the best way is probably by discussing what - in your opinion - makes JJ a good show.

I like the concept but don't really care for the main character. She gets on my nerves.
