Re: Writing Habits
(Anonymous) 2016-04-03 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)My process kind of varies by project. If I'm writing flash, I just write it. I outline shorts and novels. If I use music, it's something with a driving beat, like the Iron Man or Jake Speed soundtracks--words are distracting.
I actually find that I'm most productive after midnight. I have no idea why this is. That being said, when I was doing NaNo projects, I'd get up at 6am and scribble before anyone else was up, and that worked too.
As for writer's block, sometimes brainstorming, either alone or with someone else, helps. Sometimes I just stare at the damned thing until the words shake loose. Sometimes I start something new until I figure out what's wrong with the thing I'm trying to write--because usually "writer's block" actually means "something in this story is broken and I need to fix it before I move forward."
