Sometimes I avoid WIPs because I don't want to invest my time in them and be left hanging, wondering what comes next - an experience I have had before - but I don't get depressed or triggered by it.

Some of the best fic I have read were WIP at the time I got into them. There's a lot of fun reading a fic as it's being updated, so you can comment right then and there, when it's at the author's centre of attention.
