For me, at least, I felt like Elijah was really in there giving 100% commitment. Watching him, there was no sign that he was inwardly cringing at his own character or not thoroughly enjoying the experience.

I always get the impression that that Sean guy hated his character and was almost working the "stupid sidekick" angle too hard in an attempt to cover up how embarrassed he was to be playing that role. Possibly also how embarrassed he was to know that it was going to be the role he is most known for.

Like... the dude who played the Twilight guy. Momentarily forget his name.

I'm not super invested in having watched actor interviews and such, so I genuinely don't know, but like... if he was supposedly embarrassed to be playing a "stupid sidekick" character, how freaking out of touch with the source material and Sam's actual role/characterisation WAS he?

Because. Like... Sam is genuinely one of the biggest heroes of this narrative? It's not hard to figure out? I was aware of this after reading LOTR once as a naive eleven-year-old who sucked at subtext comprehension?
It's not an embarrassing role it's an awesome role. What.
