OP LET'S BE BEST FRIENDS! I fucking loved that movie. It was dumb and clunky but it was ultimately about female friendships and had the one time that the "Oh, our tragic love cannot be" trope actually worked (which, omg he is in a position of authority over you and just a bit too old, GOOD CALL, YOU GUYS)

Yayyyy! *fistbump* I got curious and read the books too, and guess what? She also has a broody smouldering love interest she ends up breaking up with because... gasp... it's not her responsibility to fix his life! I'm sold!

This is such a cranky series but the lead is actually, genuinely a good role model while still being super likeable.
