Dinner for either evening meal or traditional primary meal. (Mid-day holiday meal, usually when I'm visiting.) Lunch otherwise.

Yeah we also use "dinner" to refer to the major holiday meal if it's after noon (even if it's at 2PM) but that also comes with the implication that there's not going to be another meal after that (maybe just some browsing later on).

If the major holiday meal is at noon or before it's most likely "brunch", then lunch is skipped and a small dinner may be had later.

So I guess that's an exception to the "dinner = evening" thing and I'm glad you mentioned this because I forgot about it xD
