Writing advice!
(Anonymous) 2016-04-06 12:08 am (UTC)(link)So probably... five years ago? I was one of those people who actually bought a Netbook. I've always had larger laptops because I do some gaming, and my big laptop is always my internet laptop, too. I wanted something small and portable - like, that could fit in my handbag, and I didn't want to hook it up to the internet at all because I have a lot of trouble with getting distracted and zoning out on the internet. So, a netbook was perfect for me. I could bring it anywhere and write a few words when inspiration struck, and I was only going to use it for the word processor. Not to mention, the largest perk of having a "low-functioning" computer is the immense battery life - mine could last for 9 and a half hours.
However, yesterday, I realized it wasn't charging properly, and I think the charger is dead. Replacing it is easy enough, but I wonder if I shouldn't upgrade. The poor thing is getting pretty slow, and I wouldn't mind something with a little more capability.
As I understand, though, Netbooks are a thing of the past. Ultra-portable computers are basically iPads now with keyboards. I don't like touch screens and I don't like the price tag that comes with tablets, and I want battery life.
What do you guys use for writing? Are any of you like me, and if so, what kind of computer do you use for writing? Any recommendations?

(Anonymous) 2016-04-06 12:30 am (UTC)(link)Ahhh, yeah, I mean I don't mind investing a little rather than spend less to buy something that is going to constantly disappoint. But my current Netbook I bought for like $250, as was the trend back then. And my netbook is like two pounds, I think. It's teeny.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-06 07:56 am (UTC)(link)Whether it's still available or not (at any price) is an open question, but I can turn the touch screen off and it functions basically like my netbook did only better, and it weighs about the same. I honestly love this thing.
