Of all the sports, why do they want the figure skating anime to be about girls? Wouldn't it be more feminist to have girls doing a "manly" sport, like... I dunno, American football? Or are they that weird type of gender-role-enforcing "feminists" that think boys are stealing all the "girl things" from girls?

And have they said anything about the cheerleading boys anime?

There's a basketball anime with girls btw: Ro-Kyu-Bu!

Also there's a new anime airing this season about girls and motorcycles.

Came here to say that. They should go watch the girls on motorcycles anime if that's what they're looking for...

I don't think many of the people who wanted this show to be about girls are going to be interested in Bakuon!!. I watched the first episode and it was pretty gross.

Huh, I had no idea. I thought it was your average "cute girls doing cute things" show, but with motorcycles this time.
That kind of show holds zero attraction for me, so I didn't check it out.

Yeah sadly. I was hoping for a cool sports anime starring girls and I got hella bouncing boobs and a talking motorcycle that makes sex jokes (which could almost be funny, but it was just awkward).

dang O_O and here I was actually thinking of checking it out for a change, because I like motorcycles.

if you're looking for a decent girl sports anime, bamboo blade is really good. i hear princess nine is also good but it's on crunchy roll!

ro-kyu-bu is not what i think anyone would be looking for, especially since it looks like it was made to pander to lolicon fans

(Anonymous) 2016-04-08 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
And while it's not really a gendered sport either way, Amanchu--scuba-diving girls--looks like it will either be SUPER hoyay or actually Go There, and it doesn't look aimed at men at all.

Just looked it up and it looks pretty good, definitely a step up from all the "lolis doing sports" recommended so far. Thanks for the rec!

Ro-Kyu-Bu is aimed at pedophiles, though...

(Anonymous) 2016-04-08 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Lolicons not pedophiles; pedos have standards.

Personally, I think figure skating just looks super graceful and pretty regardless of gender, so I'd be fine with either a male or female cast.

Now that I think about it though, it would be really cool to get a hardcore roller derby anime, kinda like Whip It.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-07 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be neat! Especially if it was aimed at (or at least partially aimed at) girls and not total fanservice titty. I loved Whip It because there were so many cool female characters in it, and I'm really not into sports.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-07 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I know right? Considering how popular sports anime is at the moment, it be the perfect time to do it.
Ugh, if I were a mangaka I'd totally write this. T__T

Because figure skating is my favorite sport and I like girls...?

(Anonymous) 2016-04-08 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Role reversal isn't necessarily feminist.

Also they could watch older stuff like Princess Nine and have fun because it's a good sports anime with all female lead cast.
