Which one do you prefer, an all-female cast story or an all-male one? Both aimed at women and pandering to you (aka interesting female characters vs hot men)

All-male if they're hot. Yeah, I'm shallow.

I really don't care. I want what's best for the story. If that's an all-male group, cool. If it's all-female, fine by me!

I'd prefer all female. Just for variety's sake, as there are already so many media things that are majority male. Granted, I'm bisexual, so either works for me in terms of hotness.

It really depends on the movie/genre for me. If it's a dumb action movie, then I'm okay with a all male (or one lady who's there as a love interest and/or to get naked) because it's not trying to be anything other than it is. But for more ~serious~ movies I except more.

I prefer an all-male cast over an all-female one. My life already has an almost all-female cast that no show could ever live up to.

I'm easily bored, and generally don't want the "same old same old" mediocre crap--but I'm willing to make tradeoffs. If the storytelling or production design is superb, I'll tolerate less diversity in the characters; if the concept of the show is audacious, I'll give mediocre writing or acting a pass. Ideally, of course, I want it all; I want a cast of characters that are diverse in terms of race, gender, physical appearence and orientation, acting out a well-written story that's thought-provoking and entertaining on gorgeous sets with great music. And THAT is what would pander to ME. Variety is my preferred eye candy.

(I realize that I haven't quite answered the question you asked, but the idea that womon in general only want one or the other of those choices kinda gets my fur up.)

Can I have an equal split of hot men and women with interesting personalities and roles? Because that's the kind of shit I like.

All-female cast, always. I'm actually having trouble getting into things because I want to see more women and I just can't make myself care about male characters. Hot men doesn't work as a bait for me, though. I just don't look for that in fiction.

All female. Just less of those stories around and I find them more interesting. Especially when they can hit the right notes of girl friendships.

I don't care as long as the story's good and I can ship some of the characters.

I'm honestly good with either provided the characters are well-written and interesting and sympathetic. I think female cast might win out on a narrow margin because there are a lot less all-female-endemble-cast media works out there that fit my particular fictional preferences than there are all-male-ensemble-cast works. I think that's because I tend to prefer the kind of story that male ensemble casts get over the kind of story that female ensemble casts get. Less interpersonal/romantic drama and domestic stuff, more saving the country/the world/humanity and awesome devoted platonic friendships plz.

Well I'm a woman who isn't attracted to men - so definitely the first one.

I like looking at men but an all male story would bore me.

Echoing another anon, I don't understand how having 'interesting' characters is pandering.

I assume from your phrasing that the best thing about the all-male story would be how 'hot' they were. In which case, zero interest.

But the only way I think 'interesting' could be pandering is if it's a box-ticking exercise for issues covered/represented regardless of how they suit the overall flow. If so, I'm not interested either. Especially if it kept going "By the way, this is because we're female!"

All-female, please. It's not like there aren't already a million all-male stories I could go back to if I feel the urge.
