Fictionkin is when they think they are a fictional character. Like this character existed in another universe so the "writer" in this universe only managed to tap into that one and didn't actually create anything. They believe that they have the soul of this fictional character and have the memories of them and everything.

I think a case might be able to be made for otherkin, but there is no case for fictionkin. They are either delusional or trying too hard to be special.

The first model I ever saw for fictionkin was as a part of DID. The alters found in DID are in a sense "constructed"--you need a viewpoint and set of behaviors that can survive a particular situation, so you develop a personality with just that viewpoint and set of behaviors. In that model, fictionkin were those who'd taken fictional characters as the template for one or more personalities. Of course, that doesn't apply to fictionkin who have never had DID.
