The first model I ever saw for fictionkin was as a part of DID. The alters found in DID are in a sense "constructed"--you need a viewpoint and set of behaviors that can survive a particular situation, so you develop a personality with just that viewpoint and set of behaviors. In that model, fictionkin were those who'd taken fictional characters as the template for one or more personalities. Of course, that doesn't apply to fictionkin who have never had DID.
