That's exactly how the First Amendment works. Anyone can call anyone an idiot on the Internet and not get arrested. It's what makes America different from any other country in the world. In Britain right now, you can get arrested for tweets.

the First Amendment has to apply to everything, not just the stuff we like, otherwise there's no point in having it.
