Re: OCD Anon, signing off
(Anonymous) 2016-04-08 02:46 am (UTC)(link)Re: OCD Anon, signing off
(Anonymous) 2016-04-08 05:15 am (UTC)(link)Regardless, people don't say "get help" because they assume someone will never think of it on their own, they say "get help" because hey, that person seems like they seriously need to get help. If you don't want people to comment, don't wave your issues around on a public forum.
Re: OCD Anon, signing off
(Anonymous) 2016-04-08 06:45 am (UTC)(link)And you seem ignorant to how many people say "get help" with the tone of dismissing or delegitimizing someone's actual issues, so yeah. It can come off as rude, even if it wasn't intended that way.
Re: OCD Anon, signing off
(Anonymous) 2016-04-08 07:49 am (UTC)(link)Usually anons talking about an issue like this will mention either that they are seeing someone about the issue, that they can't get help for x/y/z reason(s). That's a big clue, and also something people do to signpost 'hey, you don't need to tell me I need help, I know'.
Tgis OP didn't. Therefore, to cover all the bases, it is reasonable for commenters to suggest the OP get help if they aren't already.
Frankly, it's pretty dismissive and deligitimising of you to suggest that that the users and anons suggesting OP get help are doing so patronisingly, considering the amount and breadth of mental issues the commenters on this forum grapple with.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-08 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)This was me five years ago! It didn't help that I knew people who were worse off than me. Being told to get help the way people are in this thread confirmed that no, I wasn't just being too sensitive/dramatic! I'm in a much better place now.
