How many different fictional species can you think of who mate for life?

Granted, that's all non-canon since the EU reboot, but it was nice that the writer for the recent SWTOR expansion remembered this in regards to Aric Jorgan if you did the romance between him and a female Trooper. (It's not explicitly stated, but he does essentially tell you 'Please don't joke about that' when you coyly ask him if he replaced you romantically, when he talks about his new XO in Havoc Squad, who happens to be female)

Most of the time things people base on humans are based on overarching cultural concepts of humans, not statistical studies of how humans actually work.
I should have thought to clarify this last night, but I also feel like in this context it should be clear what I meant, and anyway your response is completely unwarranted.
