In the Star Wars universe, Cathar (a feline humanoid species) mate for life and never remarry/mate if the other person dies.

Granted, that's all non-canon since the EU reboot, but it was nice that the writer for the recent SWTOR expansion remembered this in regards to Aric Jorgan if you did the romance between him and a female Trooper. (It's not explicitly stated, but he does essentially tell you 'Please don't joke about that' when you coyly ask him if he replaced you romantically, when he talks about his new XO in Havoc Squad, who happens to be female)

Along those same EU lines, I think Wookies mate for life too?
