I'm the same. Back when I read comics regularly, I wanted to look neat and tidy and non-nerdy going to the comic book store, even though NO ONE other than the store employees and other patrons were going to see me in there. It's not like there was someone lurking, waiting to crack a "get a life!" joke who would be so completely thrown by how much I did not resemble a stereotypical loser geek. (See also: getting worried about looking like a tourist in places where everyone is a tourist.)
