Luke Skywalker. Yeah, he was whiny to start: he was a teenager with big dreams trapped on shitty space Australia, I'd whine too. He gets down to business quick enough, and if loving him, han, and Leia spending the entire rescue yelling at each other is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

Wasn't he 20? Not technically a teenager anymore. But I agree. He was normal for his age and someone in his situation. As soon as things started happening he quickly did what he had to, and he was never whiny after the beginning of ANH.

I thought he was supposed to be 18 or 19? I think the official novelization of ANH says he's 18 but it's been a while since I've read it.

Hmmm. I always thought he and Leia were 20 and Han was 26. Could be wrong, though. I thought Leia was 17 or 18 when she joined the Imperial Senate and ANH was two or three years later.

Tbh, as scattered as the planning of the original trilogy was, it's entirely possible that they intended for Leia (the working politician) to be older than Luke (the teenage farm kid) in ANH and then had to hastily retcon it or ignore some things that had been established already in order to make the ages match up.

According to this, 20 was the original intent, but the more recent books have said 19. Don't know how accurate this is, but here:

Luke and Leia are 19 and Han is 29 in ANH.

Yup, as the link I just posted says, the original intent seems to have been 20, but more recent canon books have made it 19.

He is a bit whiny at first, but he is also adorable af and is Trying Very Hard the whole movie so I at least can totally forgive him for that
