Caitlyn Jenner kills me, because when she first came out it was such a landmark moment, and she was so willing to call out problems in the American LGBT rhetoric (remember when she said "every LGBT person in America owes a debt to trans women of color who fought for our rights at stonewall"?!!). Early on I watched her show with my brother, and she frequently checked herself when she was being gross, ignorant, or privileged.

And then the lure of being amazingly rich and cloistered caught up to her, I guess :(

But her "reality" show was just about as real as a Disney On Ice. She has a full staff of handlers and stylist to make her appear to be a good person who happens to be trans and wants to be part of the community. And that she cared about other people.

But ever since she publicly transitioned and her handlers were around to keep her from being stupid she has said some the dumbest things including homophobic and sexist. Like the time on Ellen when she said she didn't support marriage equity. Or when she won that joke of an award on being Woman of The Year and she said the hardest part of being a woman was picking out what to wear. Caitlyn is a horrible person. She has alienated the very community that embraced her when she came out. I feel so bad for her supporters to be let down like that.

This is what I mean; her staff and posse of many, many trans women kept her in check at first. Then the shine wore off and it sucks

What exactly does "gross" mean in this type of context? I've never been able to understand exactly which qualities or traits people are referring to when they use that word like this.
