when i first watched it, ngl i was a bit confused like i guess expected something more?? then i slept and woke up and thought it was good, in a sense that apparently everyone ended up happy.

i kinda wish there was just a callback to the start of homestuck like if the music was sburban jungle or “A young man stands in his bedroom.” or something. the artstyle for the video is very different, it made me feel detached, like what i liked about homestuck in the first place wasn't the artstyle..it was the pesterlogs, the lore, etc. it just felt very impersonal is what i'm trying to say. although i do agree that the animation is stunning and the animator put a lot of work into it, it just didn't feel like homestuck.

i'm v glad hussie said there's going to be an epilogue. i hope there's going to be dialogue and the completion of the characters' arcs.

Hoooooly shit is fandom salty right about now! I've been lurking /r/Homestuck as usual and they're leaning way more towards hate than love. I don't follow any Homestuck tumblrs but I wouldn't be surprised if sentiments are the same.

I actually don't really mind Act 7? Though I think most of it is because it looks fantastic. Seriously, Homestuck is Anime. I don't mind the ambiguity of it either.

But I can definitely see why people hate it too. LE's death isn't shown, technically the happy ending we see for the players is just a projection and we didn't see anyone actually enter, not everyone was even shown in said projection either. Are the kids all dead from Green Sun black hole shenanigans? Who knows!

The worst part is Hussie has confirmed an epilogue and we don't know when that'll happen. So we're not even fully off Mr. Hussie's Wild Ride yet. D: But having a better wrap-up for the characters will be fantastic.

he pulled the same thing with Problem Sleuth and posted an epilogue ~a week after the end, so I think the epilogue is a sure thing. hopefully.

DA In the post he said it will takes months to complete the epilogue though.

the other news probably concern hiveswap etc. but you're right that it'll take more than a week. what was called the end of Problem Sleuth was apparently also very open, and the epilogue that tied it all together came unexpected?

I'm confident it'll be a thing too, but I'm not anticipating it anytime soon judging from how he worded it. I wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to approach it anytime soon. 7 years is a long time to work on anything.

it was Ok for wrapping up the plot and the art style and happy ending were nice, but the expectation curve was handled all wrong.

fluid animation isn't the WHAM factor people expect for the ending of something like homestuck. sure, the comic got nicer and nicer looking, but fans didn't read the whole thing for that.

it always would have been a bit underwhelming, but I expected something more ...ambigious? the new earth is weirdly generic except for can town architecture, like a children's picture book.

I'm expecting the epilogue to handle some character stuff.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeh mixed feelings because a lot of character arcs got dropped or were never addressed, but that happened during the retcon anyway.

Meh everyone is happy so whatevs.

Also adding that I think if everyone's (or at least some) characters arcs got resolved then it wouldn't be so bad, but then we got nothing and in the end it just feels... lacking? No one grew ever and most everything got solved off-screen? Yeah, I can see why people are salty. I'd be too if I had been invested in the characters and wanted to see them grow and then have nothing happen.

I never read Homestuck at all, but I went and watched this for kicks.
1. I have literally no idea what that even was.
2. Very obvious sperm-meets-egg moments?
3. The world is a frog?
4. Animation pretty impressive
5. Everybody is happy at the end? I think?
6. I liked the music

Ha, those were exactly my thoughts (I never read Homestuck, either).
