Pretty sure that's because Tharja in Awakening was just as into female Robin as she was male Robin. Also pretty sure she had a line that said 'if we were ever reincarnated I'd still follow you', where you could see female Corrin and Rhajat as the reincarnations.

Yeah, it sucks that it's just a rehash character, but I distinctly remember a lot of players wanting to marry female Robin with Tharja. There was never really a male character equivalent who was into male Robin in Awakening.

Chrom always came off as super into Robin for me. There's a gender-neutral line in one of the DLCs (future past I think?) from Grima Robin to Lucina like "this body always loved your father" too.

Yep, Future Past 3. "The man who used to control this body loved your father." The only difference between the male and female Robin versions is them swapping out 'man' for 'woman'; it reads the EXACT same way.
