(Anonymous) 2016-04-15 01:00 am (UTC)(link)It's very hard to get someone tried and convicted for rape (jw, have you seen the statistics?), and it's near impossible without damning DNA evidence. And even then the victim may not want to go through the humiliation of a trial, where they will be publicly interrogated and made to look like a liar. Basically you have to be over-the-top prepared, and usually traumatized victims think rationally (i.e. go straight to a hospital, don't take a shower or clean up)
With the internet, it's easier to warn other potential victims, even if the accusations amount to nothing. If I was raped, I'd wanna warn others; even if I was branded a liar, I'd feel justified if it means I saved even one other person from experiencing agony.
