Why not

No attachments to the character means any drama fall flat. At best, most of the better examples are just raw porn scenarios. Fine, they're that. But they're not stories; there's no value to any rising action, nothing to really attach to a sense of victory. Identity is necessary for attachment.

At least they gave Bella Swan a name, you know?

Even assuming that character attachment is necessary for drama - which I by no means agree with! - why can't it be that the familiar non-original characters play that role? I mean it seems to me that centering the story on those characters is one of the basic reasons behind this type of fic.

There is absolutely no emotional connection since you are literally just (your name here) insert with a fictional character. It's not even meant for YOU specifically, it's everyone who reads it. You are not on the same plane of existence. It just feels so cheap and there has never been a good x reader fanfiction. There is a good reason they never make fandom rec lists.

Honestly, it just reminds me of all the crazy young fangirls of One Direction, Justin Bieber, or any celebrity who hate on their actual girlfriends and try to edit their pictures over them.
