No attachments to the character means any drama fall flat. At best, most of the better examples are just raw porn scenarios. Fine, they're that. But they're not stories; there's no value to any rising action, nothing to really attach to a sense of victory. Identity is necessary for attachment.

At least they gave Bella Swan a name, you know?

Even assuming that character attachment is necessary for drama - which I by no means agree with! - why can't it be that the familiar non-original characters play that role? I mean it seems to me that centering the story on those characters is one of the basic reasons behind this type of fic.
