Slightly OT, but...

My bf likes her music. I heard about her on f!s long before I heard her music, and it's probably affected the way I see her music, but...

man, I just do not like that conjoined twin schtick. It strikes me as the kind of thing a 14-year-old goth might draw in their notebook. Like, trying really hard to be edgy, but just by pulling out random edgy elements to get a rise out of people as opposed to using anything personal and raw to make art.

And then there was her song about pubic hair... I guess it was okay. It just feels like less expression of self and more a desperate bid to be radical.

I tend to like those quirky female singer/songwriters like Emilie Autumn or Poe or whatever, so I feel like she SHOULD be up my alley, but I just can't.

It's very try hard. This would be terribly edgy if it was 2003 and she was in her late teens or early twenties, but it's far less so in 2016 for a woman pushing 40. Which, I suppose, makes her an excellent partner for Neil Gaiman, who is truly her literary equivalent.

I don't even go here really but...they might start liking her for real? Everyone has to start getting into an artist somewhere. Personally I don't see how it's a problem.
