Re: Things that bug you about yourself?
- that I fidget a lot/have a lot of neurotic tics. I biter the skin on my fingers or scratch my teeth with my nails - I guess i looks sort of gross to look at.
- that I only have limited energy, can't multitask, forget important shit, and generally do not have my life together.

Nice to meet you and my condolences.

Re: Things that bug you about yourself?
Years ago, when I had a fun day in hospital involving brainscans, electrodes and cognitive tests, one doctor said he suspected I have an "undefined concentration disorder", so ear that was terrible useful...not.
I got ritalin through a sympathetic doctor, and it's amazing in terms of how it works on me, but I no longer have access to it
I know I don't have dyslexia, with is weird, because I'm incapable of seeing mistakes on screen. Including those I type.I can write fine by hand, but typing's a mess. Yay digital age.
How did you get an adult diagnosis?
Re: Things that bug you about yourself?
Then last April, I learned there was another psychologist in my therapist's clinic who tested for ADD, so I set up an appointment with her on my own. This time, the tests were legit: I had an hour-long consultation with her in which I discussed all aspects of my life including school performance since childhood. I was given four long questionnaires to fill out about my symptoms, and my dad and aunt were given two quetionnaires about my childhood and adult behaviors. Then I had a four-hour battery of cognitive tests including an IQ test. At the end, I was diagnosed with ADD-Inattentive Type.
So, I relayed all that just to say: depending on your insurance type (HMO or PPO), start with your primary care physician or look for psychologists/neurologists/etc. in your area who test for it, but make sure they do it via extensive testing and getting input from your family or school transcripts or another 2nd-party source.
