Elizabeth is awesome.

I'm not sure you're entirely correct about everyone being grossed out if Sebastian wasn't drawn as good-looking. People ship some fucked up stuff. Good-looking characters just mean more people ship it.

I want them to end up together too. They're cute together and I'm hoping for an ending where Sebastian gets cheated out of his end of the deal. The latter is mostly because there are some awful Ciel/Sebastian shippers in the fandom who used to bash Elizabeth at any chance and I feel vindictive. It was amazing when it was revealed that Elizabeth is actually badass - if she managed to save Ciel that would be the perfect ending to the manga for me.

Well, Kuroshitsuji was originally going to have a relationship between Ciel and Sebastian, so yeah...

I want Ciel/Elizabeth to happen because I'd rather if Ciel didn't die and Lizzie isn't too bad a character in the manga and I want Ciel to be happy because of what happened to him. But people can ship what they want because fictional children can't be hurt anyway because they aren't real. I don't ship Ciel with Sebastian because I personally don't care about that ship, but I think Alois from the second season was sexualized a lot and I don't mind because I have fetish for blonde hair and blue eyes, so judge away.

Yeah same, I prefer Elizabeth/Ciel over Sebastian/Ciel.

I'm a bit behind on the manga but I think Elizabeth and Ciel need to have a talk before I can fully ship it. If I could recall correctly, there was a chapter where Elizabeth was saying how she had to change herself into a person who's 'cute' so Ciel can like her. I really want a chapter where Ciel tells her that she should be herself.

But yeah...I mean it's a minor issue compared to all the problems Sebastian/Ciel have.

And for the innuendos and teasing, the manga was originally suppose to be a BL, but the mangaka's editor suggested Kuroshitsuji to not go down that pathway for the purpose of gaining a wider audience.

Lol, fat lot of good that did. Like 99% of the audience are fujoshi. This series doesn't appeal to many people who don't like gay subtext because there is just so damn much of it.

Not to mention the anime ramped it up with Claude and Alois to the point where it was like...a tragic BL story in all but name.

I tried to watch this but the opening skeeved me out way too much. It was...a prepubescent boy who had clearly been raped, selling his soul for revenge. It made my heart hurt. I can't really take themes like that lightly. Or ship abused children with adults.

Eh, I was partial to the anime ending actually. It was an interesting mix of Sebastian getting his comeuppance while still maintaining that "this is totally BL even if we're not calling it that anymore" vibe.

Not to mention I think like 90% of the fandom would riot if Elizabeth and Ciel got together. I don't really mind her as a character (although I'm definitely one of the group who thought her Suddenly Badass thing could have been done better narrative wise) but Kuroshitsuji is one of those irritating, toeing the line queerbait animes. It hasn't gotten any less gay either, I don't really follow the anime/manga that much anymore but when I was looking at new figures the other day, this promotional art smacked me upside the head (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/9b/e0/af/9be0af305192a7efd16d1867a5528e8f.jpg). Really? There's more where that came from too, there's a bunch of official art with a fetish for playing up their domestic intimacy which almost always includes undressing for bedtime or being naked at bath time for Ciel.

I don't care enough about this series to be bothered immensely if Ciel and Elizabeth do get together, but I will throw my hat in the ring as an anon who would rather see Sebastian/Ciel, especially if there's a twist of some sort like the anime ending. The biggest reason I want to see Sebastian/Ciel though, is because of how obviously Yana Toboso ships it. I feel like her editors/publishers telling her not to make it BL to "appeal to a wider audience" as another anon said was a) kind of stupid since it's like 90% fujoshis/fudanshis, 9% gothic emo teens, and 1% other folks who give a shit about this series anyway, and b)makes it even more obvious that Ciel/Elizabeth is "the replacement couple". That's something I've always hated in series where I know behind-the-scenes information.

(P.s. Does anyone else think think Yana Toboso looks like a hot, male Jpop idol? :P https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/9b/e0/af/9be0af305192a7efd16d1867a5528e8f.jpg)

You linked the same image twice haha. Ngl that promotional art is a bit :/

I doubt Ciel/Sebastian would happen, regardless of its popularity. And is there even a Kuroshitsuji fandom anymore?

(Anonymous) 2016-04-20 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
AYRT

Whoops. Damn keyboard does that all the time and if I don't check back over my links that sometimes happens. :X

Yeah, that promotional art isn't even really the most suggestive. There's tons of stuff like Sebastian in bed in his pajamas with Ciel (since when does the butler sleep with the master of the house in bed?), Sebastian like...suggestively washing Ciel's hair while Ciel is naked and splayed out in the bathtub, and other stuff. The amount of "WE KNOW WHAT YOU'RE ALL REALLY HERE FOR" is excruciatingly obvious.

Not to mention Yana Toboso writes hardcore shota porn under a different pen name, and one of her short stories has two characters that literally look like beta!versions of Sebastian and Ciel. It's...very, very, very unlikely that Yana Toboso herself would not love to have those two boink, but the fact that it hasn't been classed as a BL work is stopping her because Japan has a really weird thing about not letting BL ~infect the mainstream~. (Like they'll do everything up to simulating sex between two guys, having two guys kiss, but as long as they do the Japanese version of "no homo man" afterwards it's totally okay. :P)

I honestly don't know. I have a feeling neither pairing (Sebastian/Ciel, Ciel/Elizabeth) will "happen" in canon, but I think she might do something like the manga "Demon Diary" did, where there's a huge finale that pushes Sebastian and Ciel closer together and it's a big deal, and it fits all the classic romance tropes, but they just conveniently skip the kiss/romantic confession scene. That's pretty par for the course with series that have heavy subtext (Free! comes to mind.)

I love her so much. She's the only character living in that manga that I care about now. I just want her to have a happy ending, she deserves it.
