[Anthony Cumia, Opie and Anthony talk show]

(Anonymous) 2016-04-19 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't it comforting to be able to break the entire world down into "assholes" and "not assholes"?

(Anonymous) 2016-04-19 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, look, a condescending douchebag!

(Anonymous) 2016-04-19 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
You see what you just did there, right?

(Anonymous) 2016-04-20 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Hahahaha.

I saw so many comments that SiriusXM shouldn't have fired him after his twitter meltdown because they knew what they were getting when they hired him and now it turns out he's an abuser. his firing felt more like Sirius had wanted to get rid of him for ages and finally had a legit excuse to.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-19 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, come on! Sirius knew exactly what they were getting when they hired Opie and Anthony. They had been fired from two different radio stations in major markets (Boston and NYC) for their bullshit behavior.

They were fired from WAAF in Boston for falsely reporting that the mayor at the time was died in a car wreck while transporting a Haitian prostitute.

They were fired from WNEW in NYC (which was syndicating the show nationwide) for having a couple simulate having sex in a church.

Soooo... yeah. Sirius may have been looking for a way to dump Anthony and seized on an excuse, but they knew what they were buying when they signed those two.

Ew, his name starts with cum

(Anonymous) 2016-04-19 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh, I only heard him a few times, but I always switched stations. He was just scummy.

You realize that a lot of celebrities aren't actually at liberty to choose all of their own appearances based on whether or not the person hosting the show's a raving cockbag, right? Even leaving aside the fact that their contracts generally mandate they make studio-endorsed appearances, if their press people have signed agreements for them to go on a show and they back out, they're the ones who'll look bad, regardless of the reason.

Heh. Comment twins (see below).

TBF, I get the impression that a lot of entertainers, especially actors, don't have a lot of say in where they get to do interviews or who does them. If they're promoting something, and it's in their contract to do it, they pretty much have to go where they're sent.

Now, if they've got smart "people," those same entertainers won't be doing interviews where they'd be a bad fit or could potentially hurt their brand or their project.

You're also assuming the people who appeared on the show actually knew shit about Anthony. I really doubt any of them knew shit and thought the low-rent Stern act was nothing more than an act.

This might be true of big press junkets where it's in their contract, but I'm LOLing that you think an actor's PR would have them tied up in an ironclad contract for them to appear a shock jock radio show. You might also have heard of cases where celebrities blow off their publicity tours or walk out of interviews. If you're such a big star that your movie wants you to do publicity for it, chances are you're a big enough star where they can't force you to participate. Also, that's how you get sarcastic, lacklustre interviews, so celebrities aren't trapped in a PR prison the way you seem to assume.
