No, not prone to addiction. And I actually hate the way painkillers make me feel mentally, so I generally avoid taking them if at all possible. But when the choice is between feeling loopy and not being able to move without wanting to scream I'll take the loopy.

It is Tramadol, not one of the really heavy duty ones, so I can take it every 6 hours.

Hmm, I feel similarly to painkillers. I think you should be fine if you stay withing the recommended daily dose.
