The problem isn't that I identify with her even though I don't look like her. The problem is that I have an overwhelming feeling that I "should" look like her. That it would better fit my personality, and what I see in the mirror is counter to who I actually am as a person.

(And I don't remember why I said I'm a girl. I think it was because I was worried people would think it was just gender dysphoria or something. Anyway, it's not a necessary part of the secret.)

Thanks for clarifying about the girl part, that makes sense.

I can't say I know where you're coming from, but to me it doesn't sound like you're necessarily kin or something like that, but rather that you're not satisfied with how you present yourself to the world but weren't really aware of it until you found this character, and now you want to express yourself through your appearance. It's just that this character lighted the lightbulb.

That's interesting, that you feel a person's, or at least a character's, looks reflect their personality enough that not looking like this character when you identify with them so strongly is somehow wrong. Stuff like facial expressions or the way a person dresses seems like a better indicator of their personality than what they look like full stop.
