The hate this series got was way disproportionate to what it purported to be (they're trashy teen romance novels with vampires that got popular, like chill y'all, it's not the death of the literary age). I'm kind of amused that people have calmed down about it as the years have ample proof that it could be much, much worse (50SoG?).
