Re: What would you love to get into but can't? Why can't you?

So I saw you said you'd be moving -- when you've settled in afterwards, check out craigslist, yardsales, or if there's a sewing machine repair place near you. Look for an all-metal electric sewing machine from the 50s through to maybe the 80s, I see them for less than $100 all the time, they're fairly simple to operate and usually cheap to repair, and unlike a lot of the plastic beginner machines that cost $80-$400 or so, will outlast you and any kids you might have. To get a comparable machine new you'd be looking at spending thousands. The only drawback is they're heavy, but on the other hand the machine won't vibrate off tables or shift around as you sew. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips! I'm moving probably July/August (the closing date isn't set yet) and I want to see how I settle in to the place before picking up a new hobby.

Mostly I need to finish the various knitting projects that have been neglected in boxes and I'll find when I move out.
