It's rumored he had HIV and some religious people had convinced him he was cured so he stopped taking meds. Then the flu came in.

He was a Jehovah's Witness. I hadn't ever heard any HIV/serious illness rumours, just that he desperately needed a double hip replacement. But JW has weird stringent rules about surgery for whatever stupid reason, and thus he refused treatment. He must have been in a lot of pain, and was seen to be very thin and frail. :( He will be missed.

I knew he was a JW. That has nothing to do with the HIV rumor.

A few days ago, someone on the radio was mocking him because he apparently was flown in to see a specialist because he had a cold - like "haha, look, we commoners just sit it out or go to the doctor closest to us but ~Prince~ goes flying on a plane to see a ~specialist~ for a sneeze".
I bet he regrets that joke now.

Yeah. Jim Henson died of pneumonia in his early 50s. Sometimes things that we usually think of as minor these days can still be deadly.
