So wait a minute, in ACTUAL cases of on-campus rape the rapist isn't punished and the victim is usually blamed if not outright punished herself, but someone pulls some petty high school bullshit and it's actually taken seriously?

that's so bizarre. at most colleges, athletes can fucking gangrape women and the college won't do shit, but apparently consensual sex is crossing a line?

No. Because the alleged victim talked herself blue trying to shut down the witch hunt. The administration was directly culpable in convicting this guy because the couple didn't have a birth control conversation until after they started coitus. (He pulled out when she said oops, asked if a condom was okay, put one on and continued.) That, in these boneheads' mind constituted rape.
