Why not give it a try? You have nothing to lose. You might even have fun.

I remember that back when I started in fandom - through deviantart, oekakis and the like - it wasn't seen as weird at all to have a character that represented you, whether human, animal or anything inbetween. I don't see it done the same way nowadays - it's like there's always this disclaimer "this is my -sona, my character", back then it was just like... common sense? that the character was just a wway for you to represent yourself.

Sorry if it isn't terribly coherent, what I said, had a bit of trouble putting it in words!

Yeah I remember these days. Everyone had an avatar OC character, furry or not.

Why be jealous? It's not like you can't join in the fun.

Your persona doesn't have to be a furry, so you could try anyways.

Just do it. Furry doesn't have to be about sex. Or, if you want it to be about sex but aren't really into the anthro-stuff, go to F-List and make a human character. Xsonas are for everyone (and everything.)

How's Second Life doing these days? That's the first thing that comes to mind to try.

A persona sounds like it would be fun to make. Anybody can make one, I think!

You might want to give roleplaying on dreamwidth or insanejournal a try.

I personally would not roleplay with other people's fursonas or personas (even if you know it's just for fun) because people see the personas as themselves and unwanted things could come of that. Some of them might think you want an actual romantic relationship with them in real life because your character flirted with theirs, or if your persona says something mean to theirs, they might take it as a personal insult.

At least with roleplay, there is a definite distinction between the character and the player. Not all players respect it but it is expected of them to know the difference and abide by it.

The sense of separation is something I like in RP.
