Clara's was actually my favorite companion departure since Martha. I'm not really in the fandom anymore so I don't know how fandom at large has reacted, but I thought both her initial sacrifice and the Doctor's attempts to bring her back showed off both of their flaws, and justified the end of their relationship. I also like that Clara called him out on how he was going to wipe her memory without asking, and that their separation ended up being something they mutually agreed to do.

And then Clara and Me going off together! I ship it a little bit. Idk Clara's writing could be inconsistent but she was given an ending that recognized her agency as a person apart from the Doctor, and I appreciated the hell out of it.
