It's not quite the same thing, but for S1 of Sherlock, I preferred the versions that ran on PBS. I thought they were tighter, for lack of a better word. IIRC, they only cut maybe one short scene in each ep, but they would also trim bits out of other scenes where no one was talking or doing anything you had to see. The first time I saw the original cuts on DVD it felt kind of unnecessarily slow - not in a short attention span way, but in a "Why did we need those extra three seconds of John walking down the street at the beginning of this scene, anyway?" kind of way.
