I mean, that New Yorker article about the earth quake that will probably destroy Seattle/the Pacific Northwest is still fucking me up almost a year later. The article is great because it's got this fascinating scientific history angle to it (that whole thing about the ghost forest with the trees that all died in 1700 because of an earthquake and the resulting tsunami that hit Japan) but then this terrifying "here are how many schools are in low sea level areas that will be flooded and everyone inside will die" aspect

My interest in moving to the Pacific northwest has gone from 0 to -100. No wonder it fucks you up, it's scary as shit.
