It's a little depressing when that happens. Something you loved long ago either didn't age well with the times, or you have completely different perceptions of people and the world. It makes it hard to enjoy the things you used to love. Maybe you can hold onto your old headcannons and ignore the new stuff? Though that is hard to do too.
