I liked these too, I could've done without the hints at Karou-centered love triangles, but on the other hand I appreciated that there wasn't a lot of "which guy should I choose" and more "I feel bad for the guy with the childhood crush and the smokin' hot sociopath makes my skin crawl because sociopath" and "the love of my two lives massacred my people what the fuck" than "I have to pick one guy over the other." The point of the series wasn't who she'd end up with, and insofar as it was in question, it was more "can I forgive him?" than the more popular "I thought I was in love with this guy until I met this other guy" thing that gets so repetitive in YA lit.
