Re: eating healthier

1) Take responsibilty for your thoughts and actions. For me a big change in thinking was when instead of saying to myself "I need to eat this", I said "I want to eat this". In other words, I questioned the cravings instead of mindlessly going along with them. Also, I'd advice getting familiar with mindfulness, meditation or any other thinking technique that helps you to face your feelings instead of trying to eat them away. For an emotional eater such as myself, being able understand why I ate, or why I had to numb my feelings, was a real life changer.

2) Replace bad habits with good habits one habit at a time, like for example, switch sweets to fruits. It's actually the small things and changes you do, not the big ones where you cut out everything, that will last a lifetime. Changing habits is an extremely slow process, as it should be, because it's based on endless repetition. You're re-programming your brains and to strengthen those new neural pathways, it's going to take a while before a new habit becomes a routine that you don't even have to think about. But, when those good habits become a routine, your life will get a whole lot easier.
