Sleepy Hollow had so much potential and a magnificent cast, but it wasted them. It's a damn shame.

It's true. It's as though the writers said, "How can we take this terrific potential and and squander it as much as possible? Oh, I know, we'll have another generic monster-of-the-week, have the main characters recite gobs of boring exposition to each other, and do our best to avoid all the fish-out-of-water yummy goodness that's inherent in the very premise of the show.

(I'm also a little bitter about the unexamined American exceptionalism, but that's another story.)

The unexamined American exceptionalism was actually what finished me. I'm not American, and since I was finding the season dreary anyway it was one irritant too many. Especially since season one actually took a pin to Crane's pretty visions at least once, when Abbie and Frank told him about Sally Hemings. I was impressed the show gave that perspective, and losing that was a really good example of how it changed from something original to a generic monster of the week show.

See, I feel like Sleepy Hollow had some magnificent moments, but then the show would drop the ball again and that would make it even more disappointing. They had a good thing, but they didn't know where to go with it.

Oh yes. Season 2 was bad, but 3 just felt dreary to me. And then to end the season like that. Such a waste of all that potential, and the great chemistry between the two leads.

Season 2 had some nice moments now and then, but the majority was terrible. When S3 started I was excited because it seemed like the writers might've learned their lesson, but as the season neared to an end... Things turned to shit really quickly. They threw all the progress they'd made out the damn window. And yes, it certainly turned more serious then that fun, silly show with the sexy leads who have tons of chemistry with each other. It was a different beast at that point.
