Well, to be fair, when it comes to ageless characters, they're usually not "old" in the same way that normal old people are old. They usually don't think, behave, or deal with the things that actual old people deal with. And they're often SO old - hundreds or thousands of years - that any notion of old/young becomes kind of irrelevant compared to the differences in the very nature of the characters' inner psychology - if that aspect still works in their relationship, the age difference doesn't really mean much.

I know exactly what you mean! There's a lot of times when I see my niece and nephew watching kids' shows and I see something happen and I think "oh man, I remember how cool it was to me when X similar thing happened in Y similar show I saw when I was little."

Incidentally, what happened to lead to that screencap in Pokemon? Now I'm curious.

Aww, I haven't rewatched in quite some time (Though I ALWAYS want to), but I don't think it has to be the best show ever to fulfill its purpose. LOTS was always one of those fun, mostly happy eye-candy shows for me, one where I didn't have to think much. (The fashion was impeccable, the powers were cool, the fights were great, etc.) Maybe my memory is deceiving me, but I feel like it was excellent for that.

... And yea, Kahlan is almost the hottest to ever hot. I have a thing for Bridget Regan.

I would have assumed by unrealistic, they meant "unrealistic for that character" - as in, that character would not have done that. Though "out of character" would have been a less ambiguous way to put it.

I haven't seen the movies in a long time, so I don't remember exactly how he was. Going by the screencap, I could see my dad being like that.

Here's what I'll say, anon: IMO I'm on the distinctly ugly side of average. I really can't imagine anyone being like "damn look at that girl!" sincerely, and for *years* I basically told myself I couldn't *have* standards, b/c I was so ugly, what did I think I was doing? I let a decent number of people treat me pretty shittily exactly for that reason.

And then! I met my fiancé, and all of a sudden there was this person in my life who in addition to being very wonderful in a lot of ways seemed to genuinely think I wasn't ugly! And it was like, shit, this ADORABLE mofo thinks *I'm* cute?! Pls never get your eyes checked, my friend, cuz this is cool.

And you know what? That shit happens every day! Literally hundreds of times a day, some person who thinks they're nothing special or even straight up ugly walks into a room, and somebody else says "oh my god, look a them!" and goes all heart eyes in their soul and underwear alike.

My point is, you're fine. :•)

No I think you're exactly right. I didn't have strong feelings about Barney/Robin in any sort of shipping/fandom-y sense, but from a narrative standpoint they were very obviously the right way to go for both their characters' stories' sakes, and the concept of Ted/Robin as an endgame basically defeated the entire purpose and message of the first four seasons of the show, the whole idea of "you never know what the future will bring, things that you 100% believed at this age don't turn out that way always, you never know how things that seem shitty in the present will look like a stroke of brilliant luck in hindsight when you look back on how it brought you to your true happy ending."

Ted and Robin's relationship AND breakup was wonderful - as a story element - and their friendship afterward and acknowledgement that they were totally unsuited for each other was a really good part of their character arcs. Their getting together pretty much torpedoed everything that show ever stood for.

I like Judge Judy but that doesn't surprise me.
Most baby boomers/middle aged people nowadays don't understand the struggles of the new generation. And instead of adjusting their worldview to the modern age, they ussually just refuse to change their mindset and instead accuse said younger generation of being lazy despite the overwhelming evidence that it's not that simple or true.

She's not my favourite (Delgado!Master has my heart forever), but I really liked her take on the role. She was a perfect fit for Capaldi's Doctor and genuinely funny without all the heavy grim angst of Simm's master (which I also loved). I found it kind of refreshing.
Don't overthink your preference. You're not a bad fan until you start bashing other people's preferences.
