the reaction of the comment section surprises me... really?!
kissing on the mouth is inherently more sexual than hugging (and less hygienic).

a sweeping victory kiss might not last long, but without context it also happens so fast that the other party can't consent.
it's sexual assault, even on a minor scale.

I bet the commenters are equating sexual assault to rape, since rape is a form of sexual assault and is sometimes referred to as that. And of course it would be incorrect to call a kiss rape. But OP didn't do that and the commenters think they did.

Well, they have good reason. An unwanted kiss would qualify for the 1-in-5 rape statistics due to the methodology the researchers used.

Exactly. If it helps them they can think of it like this. If someone took your chocolate bar without your permission and ate it that would be considered a theft under the definition of the law, but the odds are most people would be annoyed with something like that, but they wouldn't consider it serious enough to file charges or prosecute but that doesn't mean it's not theft. Similarly an unwanted kiss could be considered sexual assault, but most people would treat it as an annoyance and brush it off with a laugh or at most a don't do it again, particularly if they thought the other person was just being innocently overexuberant. Of course if there was a pattern to the behaviour or a genuine sense of menace behind it people might take it more seriously, but just because something is usually treated lightly doesn't mean technically it couldn't be considered a crime.

Sexual assault, like other kinds of physical assaults, works on a spectrum. Touching could be considered an assault, but obviously the intent behind it would be considered beyond just the act of touching. It's not exactly strict liability.

But I think we're getting off the point in this thread lol because the OP isn't the only one who might be considered overly sensitive.

I get your point OP, but if it helps try to take the context of the kiss into account and honestly, especially, in this case I don't think one potentially bad act needs to doom a character especially if they're otherwise decent.

Without context, how do you know it was on the mouth? People kiss cheeks too.
