Er. no. My parents contributed to my university education and I didn't even think about asking them if I could/should work as well. I just did.

Same. There are plenty of people who can't work in college for one reason or another -- disabilities, visa conditions, etc., but "I didn't get mommy and daddy's permission" isn't an excuse unless you're one of those genius kids who's going to college at 13.
