Some coworkers were talking about what they call their partners (fiance, hubs, partner, spouse, SWMBO) and one said she was reprimanded by a queer friend for calling me male spouse her partner. "Because that's *our* word."

Like... seriously? *eyeroll*

I mean, yea, I might kinda get it. But that's LEGALLY what they are on paper: common-law partners. Besides which, while that's your opinion, to which you are 100% entitled, that's so ridiculous. Don't jump down someone's throat for using a gender-neutral term to refer to their SO.
