Re: Peeves about nerds, geeks, and our own ilk

Yeah, it has started pissing me off too. It used to be about getting into the fun of it, and joining in the worldbuilding, because we'd offer alternative internal explanations to any perceived goofs or just appreciate the rest of the work surrounding it and love that the creators had done as good a job as they had given all the pressures of tv and movie making, but that part of it has gone in favor of unrelenting bitching and sneering. I honestly get the feeling that most "fans" actually hate the shows they are watching these days.

I feel that way sometimes, too :/. Criticism is fine and welcome, of course, but I really think some fans don't know where the line between legit critique and flat out hate-watching is.

There is one reviewer on the Livejournal Doctor Who comm that doesn't just hate watch, but actively seeks to make everyone else hate the show too. Or at very least ruin it as much as possible for everyone else. Fukkin attention seeking muppet.

Ugh. One of those "You sound like a fun person at parties" sorts. What the hell is the point of spending that much time and energy behaving that way? I don't get it.

That person is why I don't check out that community anymore. They ruined it for me (and occasionally even ruined an episode for me that I otherwise liked).
