Yes, but the chase will always be a popular trope for a reason. And it's not always the girl getting chased.

It's usually the girl getting chased. And yeah, it's popular because our culture emphasizes it as romantic. I think it appeals to some women (which, of course, makes it harder for the rest of us to be taken seriously, if they act like all women should feel that way) and a lot of men who see that behavior being rewarded over and over again in popular stories.
