People used to believe in Your kink is not my kink and that's okay! and scroll right on by stories whose premises they found unappealing. Now they shame writers for creating works that they aren't personally into, usually under some ridiculous white knight type quest. 'There's a power imbalance between the vharacters. You shouldn't write kinky stuff about power imbalances. Or insert hobby horse of choice here.

Fandom is a duller place for it.
