If a ship were secretly happening you'd think it'd be more than four.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-02 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
what's worse is one of my ancillary fandoms has at least one would-be astrologer who divines and assesses gossip about the celeb in question based on particularly arcane readings of their star signs. their posts are fucking trainwreck specials.

look, I love me some new age granola.

but these are too many grape-nuts. too many.

Holy crap I know someone similarly! At least it seems likely they're not the same person, eesh!

(Anonymous) 2016-05-02 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah this is pretty stupid.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-02 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm super down for some batshit insane stuff, my only real problem here is that this is pretty boring pseudoscience

get more ridiculous man

Honestly, if that kind of stuff was actually happening, I think it would be very hard to keep secret.

Like, a lot of us like to fantasize that two (or more) hot people are having sex. But no matter how much you think about it, it will not make like a tulpa and become real.

The Supernatural fandom both RPF and fandom shippers are full of over analyzing of people's eye movements.

+1 for use of tulpa.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-02 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, I think it would be pretty easy to keep secret if it didn't line up with some fandoms' ships. There's plenty of rumors about celebrities that are impossible to corroborate, and that doesn't even cover things that don't even make it to the stage of rumors. Celebrities probably fuck lots more than we realize.

Wow, I gotta say, of all the places I expected to here someone reference tulpas, F_S was not one of them.

NLP? Really?

If I were an actor and I saw this level of obsessive posting about me, I'd probably hide in my trailer the moment I stopped filming.

But what about 3 months later, though

I mean, you have to try to balance that desire with the desire to live a normal life at some point

The extreme RPF tinhatters genuinely scare me but I gotta be honest some of the really out there conspiracies, like fake families to hide their gay love, do provide me with amusement because it's just so bizarre that anyone could think it's true(it's why I wonder sometimes if the people coming up with them are trolls trying to lure other people in for funzies).

Don't try to introduce logic to the tinhatters. That way lies madness.

I find that incredibly creepy actually.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-02 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
If this was tongue-in-cheek goofiness I would absolutely love this shit, out-there pseudoscience and all.

The fact that these people are serious is the only thing that ruins it for me.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-03 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
This. A bit of harmless speculation and cute "Oh, hey, these celebs would be adorable together!" sort of thing is fine and fun.

But harassing the real life spouses and making up all these insane rumors about their families and BELIEVING them...that's when you need to step the hell away from the internet and go find something significantly more productive to do with your day, and life in general.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-02 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm just creeped out because yeah, coworkers hook up sometimes, and have affairs, and leave their spouses, whether they work in an accounting office or a movie studio. But why is proving they're right about some particular pair screwing like rabbits the moment the cameras stop rolling so important to some RPF fans?

Like, clearly, their wives are actresses hired as beards and those aren't really their kids. Or obviously her new baby looks like the actor who plays her husband and not her, you know, actual husband. WTF, write fiction all you want, but don't fucking share it with the actors, and stop insisting it's true like if it isn't your life is meaningless. It's fiction, it doesn't require proof, and I don't even like RPF, but the difference between someone writing RPF and someone going over bts photos with a microscope is the same between someone writing a fantasy novel about dragons and someone insisting that an unusually intense wildfire season is proof that there's been a draconic population explosion.

Even if, by some monstrous million-coincidence pileup, your particular tinhat theory is true, your celebrity crushes are not obligated to tell you that. Their private lives are still private except insofar as their contracts require they answer PR questions about their creative process or favorite ice cream or whatever.

I hate this garbage, I had trouble with a former doctor over this. I wish people would let this eye movement crap die.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-03 10:38 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. But it's still more tolerable (for me, at least) than "They look at each other! They must be in love!" or "They smile at each other! They must be secretly sleeping together!"
