My favorites are all the old ones that would be too problematic today. I just like traditional fairy tales. I love that no one ever talks about Sleeping Beauty because I get to love it in peace. Hell, I've started watching old Hollywood films for the same reason.

I adore Sleeping Beauty because it's quite possibly the single prettiest movie Disney ever made. /shallow

It's gorgeous! And the music is great, too.

Don't forget those awesome little old lady fairies who pretty much do everything important in that movie.

Really, Prince Phillip would have up the creek without them.

Plus Maleficent.

"Now shall you deal with me, oh prince, and all the powers of hell!"

I can't think about that line without getting goosebumps.

One of the best Disney villains. I ship her and the Evil Queen. Claude Frollo occasionally joins in, but he gets too religious in bed and they kick him out.

I saw a poster with a bunch of Disney baddies and Jafar is eyeing Malificent like "Whoa, check out the hot chick!" I loved it.

There's a ship I hadn't considered. Me likey that ship. I still think she and the evil queen would be good together. They would stay up late talking potions and curses.

I was so excited when I found out the background artist did a lot of other art, and sad to find out the prints are so expensive.

Someone told me ddn't want more prints of his stuff made after he died, so that's probably why.

Not shallow! I had the book that went with the movie when I was little and I fell in love with the art. Eyvind Earle's work is beautiful!

I've been watching a TON of Old Hollywood movies lately too. It's nice to watch a movie without it being nitpicked to death, and it's great to see some true actors in a variety of roles.

I feel kinda bad asking in the Disney thread, but what kinds of old Hollywood films have you been watching? I love old movies.

I've never much gotten into Sleeping Beauty, but Cinderella is one of my favorites.

Some recent faves are The Lady Eve, Holiday, Mildred Pierce, Key Largo, The Postman Always Rings Twice, and Phantom Lady. So... rom com and noir mostly?

Rom com and noir pretty much sums up most of my old movie watching too actually. I'll have to look into Phantom Lady. It's the only one I don't know.

Sleeping Beauty is my second favorite after Lion King. I love it. It is pretty. The music is great. And the fairies are awesome. Maleficent is my favorite Disney villain ever. And she turns into a dragon. How is that not the most amazing thing ever?

I love sleeping beauty. there's nothing problematic about it.
